One size does not fit all

Do thine own work, and know thyself.
— Plato

In a world that glorifies non-stop hustle, it's easy to get caught up in the grind and push ourselves to the limit.
But for many of us, this path only leads to burnout, injuries, and illness.

I always to idolized those who worked 7 days a week, like Jocko Willink and Wes Watson, but my body and mind couldn't keep up with their pace. No matter how much I wanted it. No matter how hard I pushed. Whether it was my immune system shutting down during ultramarathons or my constant mental fatigue from overworking, I knew something had to change.

Does this make me less of a man? I feel like a bitch if I need to rest. The grind never sleeps.

These disempowering beliefs have held me from my true potential.

Through trial and error, I discovered that I needed more rest and recovery to stay effective. I worried that I couldn't keep up with those who worked at 100mph, 7 days a week.
So I started experimenting with workout splits in the gym and found that a 3-day routine was just as effective, if not better than a 6-day split.
Now I am applying this to other areas of my life.
If I feel like I need to rest, I take it easy. I trust the work will get done. I develop more efficient systems and routines to compensate for lack of hustle.

It’s about the journey - I always hear that. So why would I make the journey unsustainable and hinder achieving milestones and goals along the way?

HUMAN DESIGN

I came to all of this after finally looking into my human design.

What is human design?
Human Design combines astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah and Vedic philosophy, centering around the division of personalities into five energy types alleged to indicate how someone is supposed to exchange energy with the world: Manifestors, Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, and Reflectors.

Different types of Human Design profiles

Each has a unique predisposition and purpose in life.

I thought it was weird at first but the insights into my own life were astonishing.

I am a 4/6 Projector. I do not function well with the hustle and grind culture.
While I admire that style of work, it goes against my very design. I need to have more rest/ recovery and can achieve the same results by being more efficient that those who can hustle around the clock. Neither way is better than the other. We all just have different purposes and fit in to the greater scheme of things in different ways. (Find your Human Design here)

I am also not here to labor, I am here to guide those who need my wisdom - by design!
No wonder I find myself called to coaching!

By taking the time to understand my body's needs and working at my own pace, I am finding that I can be more efficient and still achieve my goals. And that's what it's all about: finding what works for you and staying true to your journey.

I'm constantly altering my systems to be more efficient and in alignment with my body's needs, and I'm excited to share my journey with you. So if you're ready to take your physical and mental game to the next level, follow along and discover what works best for you.

Are you a grinder or do you prioritize recovery to stay sharp?
